I thought that the policy removed the need to add extra drivers to a car hire contract. This would appear not to be the case, and certainly not with Europcar. This would also, appear to be at odds...

Thanks for your feedback and apologies for the confusion. Our car hire policy allows an extra 7 people to be covered provided they are named on the customers rental car agreement. This is of great value to the customer as for example if they were on holiday with family members, they could all drive the vehicle and regardless of who crashed or damaged the vehicle, it would still be covered.
Usually rental companies charge a small fee to add these additional drivers but occasionally certain companies will allow you to do this free of charge. We cannot automatically name drivers on the motor policy because this has to be validated at the rental desk with driving license etc for the actual motor insurance. In terms of the excess insurance, they would however be included. Thanks again for taking the time to comment and we will feed back to make this completely clear in future.

Euopcar charged full price to add an additional driver to policy. It would be useful to know, ahead of any rental, those companies take do charge a "small fee"or nothing at all. The customer could then make a more informed choice. Would it be possible for Insurance4carhire to provide this information?
