I have looked into this issue in more detail for you and I can see that the original chargeable weight of your 13 packages prior to repacking was 32.34 kg, which was the greater overall weight of your packages which rather than overall actual weight 15.76 kg and this gave you a total shipping price of £441.55. Volumetric Weight, sometimes referred to as dimensional weight, is a measure used by couriers like DHL to set the price of shipping items which are large in volume but relatively light in weight. If the volume is greater than the actual weight of the goods in a package this is the weight that would be used to determine the final shipping price. Once your goods were consolidated together as one piece this immediately reduced the overall chargeable weight by 12.86 kg and by repacking your 13 packages into 1 piece this saved you an overall £156.31 on the original DHL shipping price and reduced the final shipping price down from £441.55 to £285.24 but the new DHL shipping price was excluding our additional combine and repack charges of £2 per package totalling £26.00, which gave you a total shipping price of £311.24 and this was still £130.31 less than what you would have originally paid if you had shipped all 13 packages as a multi piece without consolidating. Please note that our tax-free warehouse address is aimed at customers wanting to purchase and ship high value goods. The higher the value of the goods you purchase and send to Guernsey means the more 20% purchase VAT you would save on to go towards the shipping costs for sending goods from Guernsey. Courier shipping rates from Guernsey are much higher than shipping from Mainland UK due to there only being DHL Express service available from the Channel Islands. Our shipping rates are reviewed each year, with each of the courier services, to make them as cost effective as possible based on the volume of packages that we receive to each specific warehouse and we do also apply our own service charge to the overall courier shipping prices as a percentage. Please be aware that it is a service that you are paying for through our company as well as the shipping service with the couriers. We apologize for any inconveninece this may be causing you. I have sent you a follow up email to discuss this matter with you in more detail and to hopefully assist you further with resolving your issues and concerns. Volumetric Weight, sometimes referred to as dimensional weight, is a measure used by couriers like DHL and UPS to set the price of shipping items which are large in volume but relatively light in weight. If the volume is greater than the actual weight of the goods in a package this is the weight that would be used to determine the final shipping price. Once your goods were consolidated together as one piece this immediately reduced the overall chargeable weight by 14.48 kg and by repacking your 22 packages into 1 piece this saved you an overall €124.18 on the original DHL shipping price and reduced the shipping price down from €305.52 to €178.34 but the new DHL shipping price excluded our additional combine and repack charges of €2 per package totalling €44, which now currently gives you a total shipping price €222.34 and this is still €83.14 less than what you would have originally paid if you had shipped all 22 packages without consolidating. Our shipping rates are reviewed each year, with each of the courier services, to make them as cost effective as possible based on the volume of packages that we receive to each specific warehouse and we do also apply our own service charge to the overall courier shipping prices as a percentage. Please be aware that it is a service that you are paying for through our company as well as the shipping service with the couriers. Our shipping rates from our Turkey warehouse are not as competitive at the moment and we are limited to DHL only which is due to the volume of packages we receive to Turkey warehouse not yet being high enough to get a variable rate or other alternative courier options for international shipping, besides the DHL courier services, as the new warehouses are only just becoming established within our services.
