I see that the items being shipped were delicate and therefore we recommended repack to ensure that the goods arrived with you safely. However sometimes when we repack delicate items such as these, the actual size of the parcel can increase a little. The cost of shipping is actually calculated on the amount of space the shipment takes up, this is called the volumetric weight. When shipping internationally by air the courier tends to calculate the price for shipping on the volumetric weight rather than the actual weight of the goods unless the actual weight is higher than the volumetric weight. I have checked the size of your original parcel and see that the parcel was increased in size by 0.5 kg when repacked so this would have increased the amount for shipping by a few pounds although I see that you have chosen the protect + service so this may have increased the final cost. The best and worst prices shown when repacking don't take any extras like this into consideration as they are often chosen on shipping and not at the combine and repack stage. I hope that you will consider this information and use our services again however I will contact you directly by email to see if there is anything I can do to explain the calculation of the shipping costs further. We work with our couriers on a regular basis to ensure that we obtain the best possible prices with the couriers for our customers. We take on board your comments about the photographs and are pleased to confirm that we are looking to provide an external photograph for each package that arrives with us soon. We will be working toward offering an internal photograph of the goods within the package in the future. I can see that you didn't take advantage of our combine and repack service which may have helped reduce the size of your package and therefore reduced the overall shipping price. Shipping internationally is generally calculated on the amount of space the shipment takes up in transit, this is called the volumetric weight. When retailers ship in the UK because this is a domestic shipment they tend to charge shipping on actual weight so they often ship in standard packaging which may be much larger than the item within the package. Using the combine and repack service ensures that you obtain the maximum value for shipping. I take on board your comments about the fees for the Personal Shopper service however due to the work involved in processing these orders plus the accounting work involved we do feel that we offer a competitive rate for the service compared to similar companies offering this service.
