Thank you for your feedback. Both we and Belmond would like to apologise again for the late cancellation of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (VSOE) train that affected your holiday in May.
Whilst we are bound by the terms of our agreements with some of our suppliers and therefore cannot discuss specific costs for each element, we do have to correct your reference to the cost of the VSOE being £4,500 per person. That is the price for some departures but Belmond operates a ‘dynamic pricing’ model, where the cost of the train journey can change according to demand, normally increasing towards the date of departure. You booked over a year in advance and the prevailing price of the train at the time was £3,785 per person - or £7,570 in total for the cabin. As you have noted, we have refunded you a higher amount of £7,815 as a goodwill gesture. We have not conned, cheated or lied to you.
The other services, including flights, hotel, chauffeur drives in the UK to and from the airports were all provided and used and therefore were not eligible for a refund.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your kind words about our crisis management, we were pleased to get you home so quickly, at our expense, after the unfortunate cancellation of the train.

The fact i checked all the prices for flights, hotel and transfers and the difference is £9000,00 it’s basic maths you have taken the kick backs and discounts from BA and the hotel and you are saying that the train was only £3,785 per person I feel even more ripped off!! Talk about money for nothing !!
I have sent this to the daily Mail , I hope they take up the story !

The other point you should note is the only reason we were in Budapest to begin with was for the orient express return!
Anyone can arrange the same holiday on line and save a fortune against your staggering mark up, I just didn’t have the time!
You made your huge commission and some, we lost out on our long awaited trip!!!
