Bear roots are dispatched during their dormant state so can often look dead on arrival. We are confident the Apple Bramley will burst into life once the warmer weather arrives, which hopefully is just around the corner. It has been almost 7 weeks now since I planted my bare root trees. Still no sign of life. I contacted customer service by email and they suggested “your plant may just be dormant”! I have never known any bare root tree or shrub to remain dormant after 6 weeks in the ground in the middle of May! It would appear that no refund is forthcoming and after many years of my custom I will not be purchasing from Thompson Morgan ever again.

Bare root trees arrived promptly and were planted after soaking roots. However still no sign of life after 3 weeks. Not giving up hope yet but would have expected to see some green growth by now.

Thank you for your review although am sorry to learn of your disappointment. After investigating further, I can see that you ordered these plants are bare roots. with these being a hardy biennial, they would be heading into a period of natural dormancy and not be looking their best. It would be quite normal for these to have yellow leaves. Just please be mindful that wallflowers require excellent drainage otherwise their roots will rot. I am confident you will be delighted with how well they grow and receive beautiful display. Once in bloom if you can revisit your review based on the product, we would be most grateful. Further to your reply last November, all of the plants have died, which is what i told you last year. Therefore i shall not be dealing with you again due to your very poor after sales support.

We are sorry that the plants did not perform as we would hope and have since all died. The majority of the time with our bare root orders they do grow on once planting out and this is the outcome we would have been hoping for. Until the plants have been planted up and given time to grow then it is difficult to tell that the plants are not going to perform but we appreciate your disappointment that this was not acknowledged earlier. Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment. At this time of year, with these being a hardy biennial they would be heading into a period of natural dormancy and not be looking their best. The wallflower plant is also part of the brassica family and sometimes will emit a bit of a cabbage smell, this would be quite normal along with yellow leaves. Just please be mindful that wallflowers require excellent drainage otherwise their roots will rot. As these were purchased as bare roots not a garden ready plant, as mentioned they will not look great just now, but it is healthy roots we are after and am sure you will notice a difference in spring. I can confirm once again, that all plants have died. In fact they were dead on arrival. I told you this in November last year but was assured by you all was well, and that come spring, i would see a difference. What makes this all the more galling, is the fact that I am a qualified horticulturist and can tell between dead and alive plants without you telling me otherwise.
