I am sorry you were disappointed.
If one of the joints is too tight, you can just loosen the little retaining plastic piece that holds it in place, and you will find that it will swing freely.
As for the overall quality, obviously this item is relatively cheap, and is of course made in China. We do have some items made for us here in the UK, and a local engineering company has made 3 or 4 things for us so far. But while they could surely make a more scientific demonstration of chaotic motion, they could not do it for anything like this price.

The Heatmobile has two green pulleys. They look very similar, but they are different. If you fit them the wrong way round, the heatmobile will not spin. If you think the problem is something else, please let us know.
