We particularly love the way you described the ferns being in bloom and creating an even greater sense of privacy. That, alongside the isolation and those magnificent views stretching out in front of you, sounds like a very special combination. It sounds like you still found plenty to enjoy, particularly watching the wildlife through the window. There’s something wonderfully peaceful about being able to sit quietly and watch the world outside from the comfort of the shack. We’re sorry, though, that the bright light across the valley, the nearby road noise and the flashing smoke-detector light affected the dark-sky experience you had been looking forward to. We can understand why that would have been disappointing, particularly when sleeping with the blinds open was part of what you were hoping to enjoy. We really appreciate you explaining those details so clearly. It’s also lovely to hear that, despite those things, you enjoyed your stay and are considering trying another location in search of the remote getaway and fully dark sky you had in mind. With so little light pollution around Ascella, it must have been lovely to step outside and look up at the night sky. And then to have such perfect conditions for hiking to the summit of Moel Siabod is a pretty brilliant way to make the most of the area. We’re also delighted that the shack worked so well for you, especially the comfortable bed and the extra room for those long legs! We know that’s not always a given in a little hut, so we’re very pleased Ascella passed that particular test. 😊 And thank you for sharing these gorgeous photographs with us. The shots of Ascella surrounded by the open landscape really capture that feeling of being tucked away in nature, while the beautiful sunset and evening skies show exactly what makes the location so special. It sounds like Hydra was the perfect place to celebrate your birthday and press pause on everyday life. 🎂🌿 We’re delighted that the secluded setting gave you the proper break you were looking for, even if your only regret was not staying longer! We love that your dog made full use of the field too. There’s something wonderfully joyful about imagining him sprinting through the long grass and making the most of all that space. 🐾 The huge windows and outdoor bath sound like they were highlights, and we’re pleased the cabin felt clean and comfortable throughout. We also have to mention the cassette player and the Harry Styles appreciation! That feels very fitting for a cosy Hydra stay. 🎶 Your suggestion about adding some bathroom shelving is also really helpful. We can completely understand how quickly skincare products can take over a small sink area, especially when there are two people sharing it!
