We’re sorry the whole experience felt harder work than it should have done. For context, all demo boards are normally listed as collection only within the product description. In this case, however, that was not shown correctly on the board you purchased, and we apologise for the confusion this caused.
The reason demo boards are usually offered as collection only is that, once a 14ft composite paddleboard has been removed from its packaging, it is often uneconomical to store the original packaging and then repack the board safely for shipping. Once we realised the listing error, we explained that, due to our mistake, we would still arrange delivery for you.
We also explained that, because you are located near the Cairngorm National Park in Scotland, more than 500 miles from our shop, we may need to obtain an alternative shipping quote rather than use our standard published mainland UK delivery rate of for composite boards. We did offer you the option to cancel the order if you did not wish to proceed with delivery, but you chose to continue and have the board delivered for £100.
As we have already explained via email, we are sorry the board arrived in less than the condition you reasonably expected. Even for a demo board, it should have been properly checked and cleaned before dispatch. “In a hurry” is not the standard we want to be giving as an explanation, and we fully understand why that added to your frustration.
We do appreciate the feedback, because it highlights exactly where we need to tighten things up — clearer wording on demo board delivery, better communication from the team, and a more thorough pre-dispatch check before anything leaves us.
