Thanks for your feedback and we’re sorry you felt that your holiday was overpriced. We knew when we were developing and subsequently brochured this holiday that it was going to be an expensive week. There is limited accommodation on the island suitable for even small groups, and the cost of being able to secure this a year in advance is disproportionately high for the standard available. We based the holiday in lodge rooms attached to the main hotel simply as a way of reducing the cost. The holiday was designed by one of our experienced tour leaders and an enthusiast of Scottish mountain hiking to showcase one of his favourite destinations – we were also responding to suggestions from clients specifically to feature a holiday to Arran. We’re sorry that you had to contend with the leak in your bathroom for three days and can appreciate the frustration this must have caused you. Our tour leader for your holiday is also one of our longest standing high mountain tour leaders. Although we accept that some of the latest styles may have passed him by, his experience and qualifications in mountain leading are considerable. Due to the high operating costs, this holiday was never going to be a money maker for us, we would have simply been unable to sell it if we had applied a realistic margin, but we felt that it would be a good addition to our programme. The cost of this holiday clearly hasn’t encouraged bookings despite the magnificent hiking the island has to offer and following the perception of relatively poor value despite the high operating costs by those taking part, we have decided to discontinue this programme for 2016. Our tour leader for your holiday is also one of our longest standing high mountain tour leaders having led our clients through the alpine areas of the world since 1966. Although we accept that some of the latest styles may have passed him by, his experience and qualifications in mountain leading are considerable.
