I'm sorry that your policy didn't automatically renew as you expected. Unfortunately an error occurred when we tried to take payment from your card, which meant that your policy failed to renew and you were sent an email saying you were no longer covered. Your feedback has highlighted this email could be better worded, and so we are updating it to make it clearer why your policy hasn't renewed and that there is a grace period to reinstate cover.

I'm sorry to hear you found the direct debit set up process difficult. We try to make it clear at the time of purchase and in the email we send after you've bought your policy that the agreement needs signing, but clearly we need to look at whether we can improve this, so thank you for your comments.
