When shipping internationally the fees are calculated on the amount of space the shipment takes up, this is called the volumetric weight which is based on the dimensions of the final package. If however the actual weight of the goods is higher than the volumetric weight the cost of shipping would be calculated on the actual weight of the goods. Shipping would never be calculated on the actual product, it is always calculated on the size of the final parcel. Hi, Many thanks for your feedback, I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy that we charged Australian Goods and Service tax on your shipment with us. Please be assured that we did take detailed advice before registering for the collection of GST with the Australian government to ensure that we had this right for our customers and also work with an accountant in Australia. We were advised that we need to charge GST on both the value of goods and the service fee charged for shipments being forwarded to Australia from the UK. I'm sorry if you feel that we were patronising in any way, this was not our intention and can only follow the advice we have been given by the Australian Government when we registered with them. Due to the volume of parcels we ship to Australia we are obliged to add these charges when shipping as well as request proof of value of the goods to ensure that the correct values are added when shipping so the right fee is charged. Hi, Many thanks for your feedback. I see that you shipped the goods from our UK tax free warehouse rather than our UK mainland address. The address is based on a small island called Guernsey in the channel islands. It is not part of the UK or a member of the European Union, instead it is a self-governing Crown Dependency. Guernsey uses UK postcodes and many UK retailers deliver to the island on the same terms as mainland Uk. Significantly, Guernsey has no vat or GST. This means that if a UK retailer ship to Guernsey they should not be charging VAT. However due to the Guernsey being a small island has limited infrastructure with only a single flight and ferry in and out per day. This means shipping from and to Guernsey is limited and more expensive. When purchasing high value goods the extra cost that may be charged for shipping from this location should be outweighed by the saving in vat. However shipping low value goods to this address may not be cost effect and it would be better to ship goods of lower value to our UK mainland address where we offer more economical options for shipping with additional courier options.
