Thank you for your useful feedback. Our vehicle pricing is demand based which is very common in the travel and holiday industry. The rules ensure the price remains as low as possible on quiet off-peak sailings to encourage demand whilst at busier times, the fare will increase in small increments as space on the ship becomes booked. It is therefore best to book as early as possible to get the lowest lead-in fares. The reason you may be charged (and why the amount can be different each time) to travel on an earlier or later sailing to the one booked is because you are moving to a sailing which is more expensive. The charge reflects the price difference between the two sailings. If the new sailing time is the same price then there will be no additional charge. We appreciate this may seem unfair if the earlier or later sailing is not full but the rules are necessary for this type of pricing to work. We do offer Flexible fares for individual journey legs if you are unsure what time you will arrive at the terminal. I hope this helps explain how the pricing works.
