We are sorry to hear you have not caught any moths yet. There are a number of reasons why this might be happening: 1. Our Traps attract the active adult males and catch the following types of moth: - Webbing Clothes Moth (otherwise know as the Common Clothes Moth) - Case Bearing Moth (otherwise know as the Case Making Moth) - White Shouldered House Moth - Brown House Moth It could be that you have a species of moth present that is not one of the above. 2. It could be related to their breeding cycle, meaning that the females are more apparent at this time or that the males are not yet sexually active and attracted to the pheromones on your traps (meaning they’re not seeking out females either!). 3. It may be the case that your traps need to be repositioned. Please make sure that they are not in a draft or in in direct light. Also, if you are using any repelling products such as cedar wood, please move them to the other side of the room. 4. You mention that you are only seeing the “occasional moth”. If this is the case, any of the above points as well as only having a few moths will result in a low catch rate. Please be reassured that our traps will catch adult male Clothes Moths & Carpet Moths. Please leave them in place and take comfort that they are confirming you do not have many/any adult male Clothes Moths or Carpet Moths flying at this time. Thank you so much for your 5 star feedback on our Pantry Moth Traps. We know how distressing it can be to find moths around your food areas. Using our Traps together with a thorough cleaning of the area, and sealed containers for dry foods, are a big step in the right direction to eliminating the moth problem. Any unsealed food stuffs such as grains, cereals, flour etc should be discarded as they may already be contaminated with eggs and larvae. It is great to read that the Traps have worked for you, they will stay active for 8 weeks after opening and can help you monitor for any further moth presence. It can be known for a couple of moths to crossover from textiles to food which could be why you are catching Pantry Moths on our Clothes Moth Traps. Either way it's great news that you are having a successful catch rate and the Traps will enable you to monitor for the presence of moths while also helping to break the breeding cycle. The Traps will work for 12 weeks after activation so do keep them in place. Our Traps will help break the breeding cycle by attracting the active adult male moths and over time this will reduce the amount of moths present in your home. There could be a few reasons why you are still seeing moths flying around your home: 1) Our Pantry Moth Traps are the ideal starting point on dealing with a moth problem, especially as they give you a clear idea of how bad the infestation is and whether you are seeing success (a reduced daily catch rate over time is good news!). However it will take time to reduce the population if there are moth larvae present that pupate into a new cycle of adult moths. 2) The moths still flying around may be the female moths, our Traps only catch the active adult males. 3) Some of the moths you are seeing might not be Pantry Moths. Thank you for your 5 star feedback on our Pantry Moth Traps. However we are a little confused because they do not catch Clothes Moths, only Pantry Moths. Our Pantry Moth Traps attract Indian Meal Moths (Plodia Interpunctella) and Mediterranean Food Moths (Ephestia kuehniella). Our Clothes Moth Traps attract the following: Webbing Clothes Moth, otherwise know as the Common Clothes Moth (Tineola bisselliella) Case Bearing Moth, otherwise know as the Case Making Moth (Tinea pellionella) White Shouldered House Moth (Endrosis sarcitrella) Brown House Moth (Hofmannophila pseudospretella) If you would like any help or guidance with your moth problem please contact us at help@moth-prevention.com and we can also identify the moth if you can send us a photo.
