The quality of the Scooby is really good, what I dislike is the fact that it comes with just a bit of starter liquid. If the recipe says that for 2L of Kombucha drink you need 200-300 ml of starter...

The amount of starter tea required depends on the strength and power of the starter tea as it is added to help to reduce the PH and keep the brew safe from mould. If the starter tea is strong and has a nice low PH you do not need as much otherwise the brew will taste vinegary. The scoby is what matters, the tea is simply to keep mould away.
I can only apologise if you expected more, we try to balance making sure the scobys don't burst or leak in the post with having enough to start the first brew by reducing the volume slightly but making sure is has a low PH and is pokey stuff (you would not want to drink it lol!).
We measure the starter liquid into the pouch and there is generally around 100-150ml in a 2L pouch. Again we can only apologise if you had expected more.

Each 2L scoby contains between 100-150ml of super strong starter tea. We ensure that the starter tea in the pouch has a very low PH (as it is there to keep mould away) which means that not as much is required. We do this to keep the weight of the scoby down (for the postage costs) and also to avoid the pouches bursting in the post.
