Hi there, Many thanks for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you feel the shipping prices were in transparent. I can see you chose to ship with UPS Standard Single service and this courier service base their shipping prices on the greater of either the actual weight of a package and the volumetric weight of a package. I can see your package had a greater chargeable weight based on the volume/size of the package 24.78 kg and this will have been the weight used to determine the final shipping price with the courier services rather than the actual weight of the item in the package at 3.31 kg. All shipments are dispatched through our services as 'Delivered Duty Unpaid' with all the couriers. We don't allow additional local duties and taxes to be paid in advance, within the shipping costs, through our company, because we do not yet have the approved accreditation to carry out the customs clearance, through our services, and calculate the duties for the goods in advance. It is the courier agencies, such as Fed Ex, DHL and UPS, who use their own customs clearance departments to calculate the import taxes and duties owing for our customers shipments from UK warehouse and the additional import duties and taxes owing for a shipment to the destination country would be charged as a separate fee by the relevant courier service prior to delivery. This information is provided from section 8 of our terms of trade on our website. Unfortunately, local import duties and VAT calculated by your local customs department and the couriers is beyond our control and any discrepancies in the total costs cannot be reimbursed by us through our service. We are required to show the total shipping costs paid on the commercial invoice. Please be aware that as of 1st July 2021 the import VAT free buffer for shipments into the EU with a total declared value of £15.00/€22 or less no longer applies and all imports are now subject to EU VAT. Local duties and taxes are calculated from the commercial declared value of the goods in the shipment and also on the freight costs. If you do have discrepancies in relation to the total calculation of the import duties and taxes by for your shipment this would need to be resolved from destination with the courier. On the 1st of July 2021, the European Union updated its value added tax (VAT) system for goods imported from outside the EU. The intention is to simplify and standardise the taxation of cross-border supplies of goods and services. Goods valued at €22 or less that are imported into the EU will no longer benefit from exemption from VAT. This means that as of this date, all goods will be taxed, regardless of their commercial value. Above the €150 threshold, international customers are still obliged to pay customs duties upon importation into the EU. The VAT rate is the one applicable in the customer’s EU member state. Ecommerce retailers within the UK who are selling goods and shipping them to consumers based in the EU can register for a scheme called IOSS (Import One Stop Shop). Forward2me are a service provider and not a seller therefore we are unable to register for IOSS and have registered for a scheme called OSS (one stop shop). When shipping goods to customers within the EU we will need to charge vat on the cost of shipping based on the import countries vat rate. Seeing as we ship to all 27 EU countries this would mean we would need to register for vat in each member state. The OSS scheme allows us to register in one country and our agent will complete one return sending monies owed to each member state on submission of our EU vat return. At present we are not charging vat from the UK to EU member customers, this will be charged on import, due to some technical difficulties we are unable to charge this now. Once these technical difficulties are overcome, we will start to charge vat on shipping at the appropriate rate.
