Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate you'll understand as with any living item the sizes and appearances of plants of a similar age and height will never be uniform. If you would like me to consider the variation in the appearance of your plants could you please send me a photograph marked for my attention to helpdesk@hedgesdirect.co.uk. Also please send a photograph of the two plants that are not prospering on which I would also suggest you complete a scratch test. To do this using a finger nail scratch back a small amount of bark on the plants and if these are healthy this should reveal a green and moist surface. If the surface is dry and brittle the plants may have died, this can be due to a number of reasons including as you have stated the watering regime applied to the plants. Please let me know your conclusion from this test. If the plants do not prosper we will either replace the plants or issue an appropriate refund. I await your further advices. I was already aware of the poor service experience you had received resulting from a delay in the Cherry Laurel stock, from which your plants were selected, being released for despatch. Although we notified you on the 10th May regarding the delay we should have done so earlier for which I apologise. With regards to your concern regarding the Black Bamboo then I'm sure now you've planted this it will quickly begin to prosper. I've just inspected the stock from which your plant was selected and it has been affected by the long and cold start to this year but following a feed is now beginning to recover. I would recommend you also apply a nitrogen based feed to the plants you purchased and am sure you'll keep them well watered until they are clearly prospering. The refund for the RootGrow that was omitted from your order has been credited to the card you used when placing your order. Thank you for your feedback. Due to the cold start to this year the second coldest in half a century the growing season is about four weeks behind. This has impacted on both the growth and development of many plants and Cotoneaster can defoliate after periods of harsh weather but will normally quickly recover. I'd suggest you apply a feed to the plant and also the other four plants you purchased that from your comments are already prospering. Please be assured should any of the plants not prosper as a result of them being damaged in transit, we will either issue an appropriate refund to you or replace the plants free of charge. However please note, as detailed on our website, when planting bare roots there is an expected failure rate of circa 10%. Please accept my sincere apologies for the poor service experience you have received. I can assure you appropriate action has been taken with both our Despatch Team and via our Account Manager at our carriers Parcel Force who must have handled the delivery boxes 'roughly'.
