Thank you for your feedback. Due to the cold start to this year, that has been the second coldest in half a century the growing season is about four weeks behind. Therefore you may yet find the Yew bare rot plants will prosper. I would suggest you scratch back with your finger nail, a small amount of bark on a number of plants and if these are healthy this should reveal a green and moist surface in which case please continue to water the plants and apply a feed to these on a regular basis. If the surface is dry and brittle the plants may have died, this can be due to a number of reasons including the watering regime followed. Please do keep us advised if the plants do not prosper and we can arrange to replace these in the next bare root season (October 2013 - April 2014), subject to you making a contribution towards the cost of doing so. For your information although we have no redress against our carriers (Parcel Force), we have as part of us working in partnership to maintain the service standards we have agreed with them provided them with details of the difficulty experienced with the delivery of your order. Escallonia plants do take some time to take on a bushy appearance when young and as with most plants watering regularly and applying a feed periodically will help them prosper. I've inspected the stock from which your plants were selected and can assure you they are extremely healthy. Thank you for your feedback. From your description of the plants I suspect they may have 'sweated' in transit despite being packed in an 'airy' box. If planted in a suitable location (ideally not planted to tightly and in a location where plenty of air can circulate) the plants should quickly prosper.
