I'm sorry you found the fixings were a bit flimsy, they've been tested to hold a 20kg weight with the plug and screw alone and we've never had a case of the fixings failing to live up the 'small but mighty' reputation. Yes, they are very heavy indeed. We only use solid wood for all of our furniture products, so you know it's going to last. On our website we have an approximate weight listed when you select the shelf size, but unfortunately eBay doesn't offer this feature so it's difficult to demonstrate just how heavy each shelf will be.
