We are delighted you enjoyed your recent holiday in the Madonie Mountains with us and thank you for giving up your time to leave us valuable feedback. 

Thank you too for pointing out that the descriptions of each day's walk could be improved and we will mark this down on our toDo list before we start taking bookings for next year. However, the distances covered, the estimated hours walking, as well as the elevation and descent of each day are accurately quoted against the description of each days walk in the tour itinerary. 

We are sorry though to hear of the confusion between a "walk" and a "hike". Unfortunately, this seems one of those rare occasions, where as George Bernard Shaw famously remarked, we are two countries divided by a common language. Though in American English there is a clear distinction between the two, in British English we rarely use the word "hike" (except in compound nouns such as "hitchhiker" and "price hike") and tend to use the word "walk" to refer to both activities. 

In British English, therefore, this kind of holiday is very definitely labelled and marketed by tour operators as a "Walking Holiday". And since the majority of our customers are British, this is the terminology we stick to on our website. Our apologies, therefore, if it caused an ambiguity.

I know we corresponded at length before you arrived on this tour, but it was a pleasure indeed to be the hosts for your birthday celebrations and for hosting so many of your special friends. David and Maggie. These are very kind words indeed - thank you. We are so delighted that you enjoyed your week walking in the Aeolian islands with us. Yes, we do indeed go out of our way to give maximum care and attention, but as I said to you as waved our goodbyes on Lipari harbour, thirty five years ago the boot was on the other foot when, as a teenager, you led us on hiking expeditions through the Alps and Pyrenees. So much that I have learnt about leadership, organisation, mountain safety and even simple group dynamics were learnt on those expeditions. 

Dilly, it was fantastic to have you with us on the Aeolian islands walking holiday. It was an honour to have you travel with us and so much fun showing you around. We are glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you too for all these kind words. We certainly try to deliver our best, but it is always good to know when it has been appreciated. Thank you for your kind words. We do indeed try to make our small group tours of Sicily as full of variety as possible; interspersing historical sites with more remote locations in the countryside and we are always happy when our guests appreciate this. However, as you will appreciate, for the time being, some of the hotels there are the only ones available in the area.
