i wouldn't recommend at all. before applying was told i'm eligible for £1,200 credit limit to then applying and after hard search on credit file (reducing 72 points) gave me a credit limit of £200?!!...

The credit limit that you are shown initially is the maximum that you could be pre-approved for based on the information that you have provided, however the final decision for your credit limit is made by Capital One after they have performed a hard search on your report. I believe that if the pre approval limit is not met during hard search then you should decline the application. as £200 credit limit is waste of time! it will caused damaged to peoples credit scores without them knowing! that 20% is the maximum you can spend on any credit card to improve credit scores
