a bit of confusion over what a speed cutter was, but otherwise fine

Hi. The string should definitely not be removed, it acts as a 'wick' for the lubricant passing between the reservoir and the cutting wheel. The most popular method for using the speed cutter is to start on the right and move across the glass to the left, however I do know customers that go from left to right, its just personal preference. There are operating and assembly instructions in the box, If you didn't receive them please request another copy. I would advise that this cutter does require a little practice and plenty of patience but once mastered it works a treat! especially for repeated cuts of the same size. Nick Jones MD
