We would like to clarify our position again so there is no misunderstanding. Solid oak is a natural material and will continue to dry and move once in a home environment, which can result in cracking or splitting. Because of this, we do not advise or support the use of third party fillers, oils or repair products, as these can compromise the timber and affect how it continues to move and breathe. For this reason, we can only recommend our own care products, which are specifically formulated for our air dried oak. In this case, the mantel was fixed and sealed to the wall, which is outside of our installation guidance. Unfortunately, once an item is sealed or bonded in this way, it removes the allowance for natural movement and voids the warranty. This is why we were unable to offer further remedies beyond guidance and the option to purchase a care pack. We are sorry that this was not the support you were hoping for, and we regret that you felt the communication was impersonal. That was never our intention.
