While natural movement, cracking, and splitting are expected with solid wood as it acclimatises to the home, the timber should never be unsafe to touch. If the wood has moved to the point where you feel someone could catch their hand or get a splinter, we absolutely want to see that and help put it right. We haven’t received any follow-up photos showing the level of splitting you’re describing, so please could you send images to info@funky-chunky-furniture.co.uk so we can properly assess the pieces? Once we’ve seen the condition, we can look at the best resolution for you. We are always here to help, and we want you to feel confident and happy with your furniture.
