I now see why the price was so good as did not receive what I thought I was purchasing.

The prices change and when I booked, I was called and told to get on another flight because it had been overbooked.

As we discussed your old reservation is auto cancelled by the airline as flights were overbooked,So we have provided you alternate option on United airline on same price

It is common that flights can become overbooked while the reservation is being booked. In this particular case the United Airlines flight had no more available seats.
