Addendum: We decided to join Croner after a bank contractor's query through ACAS. Croner promised to provide us with all the necessary documents that would allow us to engage contractors safely and provide guidance. We received the required documents, and a month later, a self-employed contractor raised some concerns. We were surprised to discover that there were some errors in the documents, and even worse, Croner did not offer any guidance on self-employed contractors. They only provided us with a template and did not offer any revisions. This is unacceptable considering that our workforce mainly comprises contractors, and we wonder why we are paying Croner for their services. We are now locked into a 5-year contract, paying an annual fee of £2000, and all they can offer is advice. We strongly advise against using Croner for any business that mostly comprises self-employed/contractors as their primary workforce.
