I have to admit we must agree with you about the stand. It is indeed very rough and ready.
When sourcing these, we had the option of dolsots without stands though these would have been the same price. We did consider removing the stands and just selling the bowl but if nothing else they provide helpful protection for the bowl whilst in transit, and something to put the hot bowl to protect your surface.
Looking at the product description on the site it currently reads "The bowl comes with a free rustic-looking wooden stand and lid - perfect for protecting your table from the fiery hot dish, and for a dramatic lift-away at the table." Perhaps the 'dramatic lift-away part is a little strong, unless you're after a particularly rustic effect. We usually present ours on a thick wooden chopping board.
I'm pleased your dish turned out well. We've been really enjoying bibimbap in the Sous Chef office now the weather has turned colder!
Thanks for your feedback and best wishes
