Thank you for your feedback on the MIST standard and the relevance of course content to your job.  The OPITO MIST standard has been for all roles going offshore in the UKCS since 2009. It is understood that not everyone works outside whilst offshore, but OPITO currently specify that everyone should have a basic awareness of the hazards and controls.  It has been agreed in the UKCS that this knowledge should be checked and updated every 4 years with any changes to legislation and safety themes in the industry.  A specific module on helicopter safety was added in 2014 at the request of industry and to assist with concerns in the sector around this mode of transport. MIST-Online is the safety refresher for experienced offshore workers so you don’t have to do the full two day classroom course. The assessment is designed to strip out any topics you already know and tailor the course to your specific knowledge gaps.Across the 130,000 completions online, on average it takes 3 hours to gain your certificate.Thank you again and we will discuss your feedback with OPITO on the current standard.
