Our Traps catch the following types of Moth: •Webbing Clothes Moth, otherwise know as the Common Clothes Moth (Tineola bisselliella) •Case Bearing Moth, otherwise know as the Case Making Moth (Tinea pellionella) •White Shouldered House Moth (Endrosis sarcitrella) •Brown House Moth (Hofmannophila pseudospretella) If you are seeing moths flying around your home but not seeing any moths on the Traps it could be for the following reasons. 1) The moth you are targeting is not one of the Moths mentioned above. You may like to view our guide on Identifying Clothes and Carpet Moths. 2) Our Traps attract the active adult male moths and will help break the breeding cycle. In some areas the temperatures and conditions might not be ideal for the moths to breed yet. The male moths will be attracted to the powerful pheromones on the sticky strips when the are sexually active. It is advised to keep the Traps in place because they are active for 12 weeks after opening. 3) If you have any other moth deterrents placed nearby they can distract from the Traps. As you have been using our Moth Traps for some time now, we would expect that the moths you are seeing are not adult male moths, which is a good thing! It is the moth larvae that do the damage to your clothing and textiles. They will eat animal based fibers such as your woolen sweaters causing the holes that you are seeing. If there are still moth eggs in your home, they will hatch into larvae and then become adult moths, and the moth life cycle will start over. You may like to consider one of our Clothes Moth Killer Kits which eliminates Moths, Eggs and Larvae.
