It sounds like you had a faulty pair which we are very happy to replace for you. Kirkpatrick make their products from Malleable Iron, which makes the iron very strong like steel. The process involves 7 days in a annealing oven to remove the carbon, and this can warp the iron which is then straightened by hand by their blacksmiths.
