Thank you for your feedback and we are naturally very disappointed the severe weather impacted on your time on Kangaroo Island.
The decision to cancel departures is based solely on ensuring passenger safety, which is always our number one priority. The Masters make these difficult decisions taking into account a number of factors, including wind strength and direction, swell size and direction, and the tides. Whilst sailing conditions may be suitable out on the open waters, it can be the safety aspect of berthing at either Cape Jervis or Penneshaw which is the issue. The 9.00am and 10.00am sailings for Cape Jervis on the morning of the 10th of May were cancelled as we could not guarantee the safety of our passengers.
I do understand your disappointment that the 3.00pm was the first sailing we could transfer you too, however it needs to be remembered we did not sail on the 9th of May and a number of the passengers booked on the 12.00pm & 1.00pm services already had their travel delayed by up to 24 hours. We will always do all possible to transfer affected clients to the first available service.
