Thank you very much for the feedback. The additional cost to upgrade from Standard Cover to Executive Cover (in this instance at the cost of R140) is not just to reduce the amount held on your credit card. If the booking was made on Standard Cover you, the renter would have been liable for R 7,500.00 in case of damage to the vehicle, an accident or theft. This amount is called the Insurance Excess or Liability amount. The additional amount you paid was to reduce the liability amount that you would have been liable for from R 7,500.00 to Zero – similar to buying an insurance policy. We apologise that this was not communicated to you clearly, and that the impression was that you would only pay a lesser “deposit”.Kind regards The Drive South Africa Team
