Thank you for your feedback regarding how you felt about our medical screening process. I am sorry that you found it frustrating but it is important to determine whether you need to declare conditions that are currently requiring treatment or under investigation if you wish to seek cover for any claims related to those circumstances. Our medical screening filter questions are carefully designed to allow those people who have stable and well controlled conditions to be reassured that they are covered and do not have to go through the full screening process if they can answer “No” to the questions. As your ‘winter bug’ had been persistent we had to consider it still to be under investigation and you agreed to exclude it, as per the terms and conditions of the policy. In terms of your daughter’s injuries, unfortunately anything that you consider serious enough to require going to hospital, even just ‘to be on the safe side’, would trigger one of our filter questions and would, under the strict terms of the policy, require medical screening. Following our discussions with you, we decided to apply a common sense approach to this so you did not have to screen or pay any additional premium. I hope this explanation has been helpful. Whilst this may be of small consolation to you, most other travel insurance policies apply a far stricter approach to what are seen as existing medical conditions so you may well have found their processes lengthier and more costly.
