Many thanks for your recent oboe rental. We work very hard to try and make sure we get the pricing correct on our rental program. We know that for many the price of a new instrument (especially Oboe!) is a huge investment so we do our best to make the monthly rental prices as affordable as possible. They are worked out as a percentage of the overall cost of the instrument and a couple of other factors including maintenance and insurance etc. Sadly, the Oboe is a very expensive instrument in relation to other wind instruments, the New price of the instrument you are renting would be £1098 – significantly more than the £390 value of a Clarinet for example. The rental amount unfortunately has to reflect that cost/value difference. I was keen to make sure we were competitive on our oboe pricing so I had a quick check round the main 5-6 other competitors and found the following: Prices ranged from £30-£50 per month for a variety of lower quality Chinese models, and were between £58-£65 for the Buffet 4121 and Yamaha YOB-241 which we rent for just £40 per month. On just price alone I think we’re very competitive based on these other options. Also, with our rental you do get all maintenance and insurance covered as standard and can use 50% of all payments from month 4 onwards towards the cost of a new instrument.
