Welcome to Dipples the only fifth generation family jewellers located in Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Dereham. Dipples is over 145 years old, with the jewellery business originally founded in 1878 in Woodford, Essex, by George Henry Dipple. George did not stay in Woodford for very long as by 1890 he relocated the business to Ipswich, with the jewellery store making a final move to Norwich around 1894 to Swan Lane, where the Norwich store has been located ever since. Our second jewellery store in Dereham, Norfolk - was opened by Rodney Ellis, Great-Grandson of the founder - which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023. Today all of our stores are run by managing director Chris Ellis with wife Rebecca, fifth generation, son of Rodney and Great-Great-Grandson of George Henry Dipple. In the late autumn of 2022 Dipples opened its most recent store at 14 Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmunds, where a jewellers has stood for over 270 years. Thurlow Champness and Son had previously occupied the building. We are fiercely proud of our reputation and of our family heritage, specialising in timeless contemporary classic jewellery, fashion must-haves and opulent pieces for all of life’s special occasions. We have built connections to some of the most recognised names in the watch and jewellery worlds. Whilst we do not currently have an on-site workshop, we do use some of the countries leading jewellery designers and makers both in London, Birmingham and beyond. Step through the door of any of our branches and you’ll be warmly greeted by one of our team and encouraged to browse at your leisure… which might take some time as we probably have the largest choice of jewellery, watches, diamonds and collectables anywhere in East Anglia.
