Thank you for your positive review.
It’s always a bit of a leap of faith applying for jobs with a CV that looks and sounds different to what you are used to, and we fully understand and appreciate that some clients are a bit tentative when it comes to replacing a standard CV in favour of something more radical.
At the same time, you do need to stand out, and pretty much by definition it’s harder to stand out from the crowd with a typical/standard CV that is similar to that of your competitors.
Of course you do need to standout ‘in the right way’, and our CVs are not different just for the sake of it, but because they are tried and tested to get better results. If that wasn’t the case we would write CVs the same way as everybody else, and especially since writing ‘standard’ CVs is far easier (and far less time consuming) than writing concise yet powerful CVs using our specially developed methods.
In your case, the CV the other company wrote for you was effectively just a long passive description of roles you had done in the past. It wasn’t looking ahead, and it wasn’t addressing your goals, or even taking advantage of all the positives you had to offer. It also wasn't addressing your new target job as well as it needed to. As such, it isn't so surprising that it failed to get results.
It's great that you can see all this now, and we are pleased to have not only helped you land a new job, but also enlighten you a bit more about the art of successful CV writing. At the same time, it shouldn't be underestimated that your success wouldn't have happened if you yourself had not taken that initial leap of faith, and apply for a job that you really wanted with a CV that you were not used to, and were unsure of. So a lot of your success is down to you.
Good luck with the new job/career!
