Privet is a semi-evergreen, which means the plants may lose some or all their leaves during a very chilly winter. In spring lots of new leaves will push through and in the summer they will produce masses of white flowers that will attract lots of butterflies and bees. Hi, Thank you for your feedback and I am so sorry your plants were not delivered on the day you arranged. I hope your plants are all now in the ground and are settling into their new home. Your Purple Beech will look wonderful all year round. In autumn the leaves turn brown when the plants become dormant for the winter. The plants hold onto these leaves and in spring lots of healthy purple leaves will push through again. And your English Oak is a native, deciduous species, so your plants will lose their leaves during autumn/winter, but will burst back into leaf again and will produce acorns.
