Our local guides and drivers are integral to the success of our tours, many have worked with us for over two decades, and we hold them in the highest regard both professionally and personally. To clarify the arrangements for local staff, these vary from country to country and location to location. In our experience, drivers prefer to sit with each other during mealtimes so they can chat in their own language and Local Guides often sit with them. In certain places you will find them all together from different companies catching up on the gossip and sharing stories. Local staff usually stay at the same hotel but if it’s a busy season and rooms are in demand, the hotel or ground agent may accommodate them nearby to free up rooms for their customers. A driver or guide may also stay with family if they are in the right place at the right time. We regret if the arrangements on this occasion gave a different impression and will review this matter carefully with our partners to ensure that all aspects of our tours continue to reflect the respect, courtesy, and professionalism that are central to our values.
