This steep (50% incline), rocky vineyard in the north of the Mosel is named after the sundials ('Sonnenuhr') that were built so that workers knew what time to break for lunch. It produces some of the most elegant white wines in the world and this sweet, late-harvested Riesling can be counted among that number!. The Von Kesselstatt estate owns 0.3ha of the prestigious 43 hectare Wehlener Sonnenuhr (VAY-len-er ZON-en-ooer), a south-facing vineyard in the Mosel with heat-retaining soils of fine-grained Devonian slate that is split among nearly 200 owners.
