"Bright, quite full red. There is a discreet air of raspberry liqueur leading the nose, crushed red berries. There’s a note of toffee, a little sweetness. It’s a rounded and nicely inviting intro. The palate rolls along with gracious red fruits, neat, precise tannins, takes an en finesse route. Jean-Pierre Meffre and son-in-law Jean-Yves Carré de Lusançay make this single-vineyard Gigondas from 40+ year-old vines from a tiny 2-hectare site with a limestone-clay base covered in decomposed limestone pebbles. 80% Grenache Noir from low-yielding vines (average 30 hectolitres per hectare), it is a gloriously rich and concentrated wine.
