Frédéric Magnien's 'Coeur d'Argile' bottling of Pinot Noir from Morey-Saint-Denis comes from clay-limestone ('argilo-calcaire') soils in the heart ('coeur') of the appellation. Morey-Saint-Denis extends from Chambolle-Musigny to Gevrey-Chambertin and the Villages appellation covers around 148 hectares. A great introduction to Pinot Noir and the Premier Crus of the village, this prime example from Frédéric Magnien exhibits fresh acidity, bright fresh berry fruit and a little peppery spice.
