Lavaut-Saint-Jacques is without question one of the most structured and noble Premier Crus in Gevrey, and Frédéric Magnien's wine shows outstanding complexity, density and length with defined black fruit and autumn leaf flavours showing throughout. This is a great example of the benefits of his new amphora-led wine philosophy - surprisingly delicious now with a great future ahead. Certified organic. From one of the most famous Premier Cru vineyards in Gevrey, this hillside was named 'La Côte St. Jacques' (the St-Jacques slope) in the 19th century. Situated on the south-facing slopes of the 'Lavaut' valley, the 'Lavaut-Saint-Jacques' grow on Jurassic-era soils warmed by the midday sun.
