Pascal Gay’s Premier Cru Pinot Noir comes from the northern end of the Côte de Beaune in the terrific 2019 vintage. Lighter in style than his Beaune 1er Cru from the same estate, this Savigny-les-Beaune displays a classic red cherry hue and raspberry flavours with layers of spice and lovely length. . Sitting just south of Pernand-Vergelesses, the commune of Savigny-lès-Beaune comprises some 383 hectares, half of which is spread across 22 Premier Cru sites. 85% of production is red. 'Aux Serpentières' is a south facing 1er Cru vineyard of marl and limestone soils that lies just east of the village itself. Clive Coates MW called the group of 'lieu-dits' of which 'Serpentières' is one 'Savignys with style rather than raw substance.' Generally good value compared to Pommard, Volnay or even Beaune itself, the appellation varies hugely in terms of soil types, aspects and is largely planted to Pinot Noir. Savigny-Les-Beaune: Domaine François Gay & Fils 1er Cru 'Les Serpentières' 2019. Domaine François Gay & Fils. Burgundy Wine > Côte de Beaune Wine. Red Wine
