Zuidam Dutch Rye Whisky: Spécialités Dumangin

100% pure Rye Bourbon from the Zuidam family’s Whisky Millstone distillery in the Netherlands finished in Ratafia casks in the heart of Champagne in northern France. Gilles Dumangin is perhaps best known for his excellent grower Champagne and Ratafia Champenois. Few know of his predilection for collecting and drinking whisky from round the world. In 2020, he has launched his collection of limited-edition small-batch whiskies finished in Ratatfia Champenois casks. This Batch 006 Dutch Rye Whisky is one of only 369 bottles produced and was bottled in January 2020.The grain for this whisky is traditionally ground using windmill-powered millstones before mashing and a 5-day ferment before double-distillation in small copper pot stills before maturation in American oak Bourbon barrels for 3-4 years. Finished in 228L barriques previously used to age Ratafia barrels for 7 months (Barrel T-050) and bottled in January 2020.Light in colour, this rounded whisky echoes the barrels in which it was matured.
