Saint-Joseph: Jean-Louis Chave Sélection 'Offerus' Rouge 2023

As opposed to the Chave's Domaine Saint-Joseph (which is exclusively sourced from their own vineyards), this bottling named 'Offerus' includes an ever-diminishing proportion of Syrah grapes that Jean-Louis buys in. Like any wine that leaves the estate's cellars in Mauves, this receives the full Chave level of meticulous quality control. As Jean-Louis Chave's lifetime project in the hillsides above Mauves gains pace, the quality of the estate's Saint-Joseph wines reaches new heights. This work, plus the purchase of the 4 hectare Clos Florentin walled vineyard in 2010, means that Jean-Louis can be more and more selective in the grapes he chooses for the domaine St-Joseph and the proportion of bought in grapes for the 'Offerus' decreases (it is currently around 25%).
