Bandol: Mas de la Rouvière Rouge 2019

A full-bodied Bandol red wine from the Côte d\'Azur, with a beguiling, deep purple robe, dark, hedgerow berry scents and a palate of black fruit, spices, dried ceps and game. The Mas de la Rouvière rouge is made from a base of Mourvèdre along with lesser volumes of Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Syrah. It ages well for a decade or more and makes a fine accompaniment to roast beef or lamb or Autumnal mushroom dishes. Made from fruit grown near Le Castellet on calcaerous-marne soils, the blend usually comprises some 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache Noir and 10% each of Cinsault and Syrah.Since the 2011 vintage the Bandol red has been certified as organic - as is their whole range of white and rosé.
