"The 2016 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has a clean, precise bouquet with nicely detailed blackberry, briar and tobacco aromas, touches of mint emerging with time, all utterly charming. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity, conveying a sense of symmetry throughout and leading into a deft, quite persistent finish. This is very classy, and it should age with style. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting. Drink 2023 – 2055. 97/ 100."Neal Martin - Vinous.com. Made from a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, GPL (as it’s fondly known) is one of the less-grand (more affordable) châteaux in Pauillac compared to its grander neighbours, yet rivals them in quality. This elegant claret from one of the most famous appellations of the Médoc has terrific charm, complexity and will cellar for decades in good vintages - it can often be muscular with an impressive structure to allow it to age. Benefits from decanting when young – it needs time to develop. Pauillac: Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2016. Domaines François-Xavier Borie. Bordeaux Wine > Wine. Red Wine
