A delicate, and decently dry, quaffable rosé wine, the Saint-Pourçain 'Domaine de Chinière' offers a soft rose petal bouquet and pleasantly crisp acidity on the palate. Made from pure Gamay, it's a lovely, crowd-pleasing aperitif and a fantastic match for soft, creamy cheeses. Worthy of wider recognition, the wines from this 'appellation' are keenly-priced and well-crafted. The rosé 'La Chinière', like it's blanc sibling, is a clean, well-made country wine. The Gamay juice has very short skin contact which gives the wine a lovely pale pink colour. It has bright berry scents and an appealing palate of redcurrants and raspberries. From mature 40+ year-old vines grown on limestone-clay soils around the commune of Saulcet, it partners fish and crab particularly well (fish paella) or grilled poultry.
