The Savagnin grape typifies the Jura and produces the region's famous Vin Jaune. However, a significant proportion is released without Vin Jaune's six years mandatory ageing, either as a 'traditional' (slightly oxidative style) like this one, or as a 'floral' conventional white wine. We love the former. Described by Jancis Robinson OBE, MW as 'Halfway to a fino in a delightful way'. Barrels of Savagnin are permitted to age without being topped up, giving rise to this slightly oxidative style of white wine for which the Jura region is famous. Jura is sandwiched between Burgundy and Switzerland - this wine has a taste somewhere between a rich white burgundy and a fino sherry, with fresh apples and a finish of toasted almonds. Bien typique! Serve with a roast chicken, with plenty of herbs and butter. Jura Arbois: Savagnin Domaine Jean-Louis Tissot 2022. Domaine Jean-Louis Tissot. Jura Wine > Wine. White Wine
