This organic and biodynamic Clairette de Die is a gentle sparkling wine low in alcohol, making it a peerless mid-morning restorative and a great lightly off-dry wine for picnics and garden parties. The classic food accompaniment is walnuts (which thrive locally) but it is well suited to all manner of cakes and fruit-based desserts. More tea, Vicar?. Jean-Pierre Achard, the current patron of Domaine Achard-Vincent, and his son Thomas tend 11 hectares of vines that have been farmed organically since 1968 and certified as such since 1982. My favourite Christmas morning (or indeed any morning) tipple as part of a Buck’s Fizz. The slight sweetness and low alcohol works perfectly and means you can indulge in a few glasses.

Thank you for the review - Clairette de Die is a bit of a hidden gem - an off-dry fizz made using the Méthode Dioise Ancestrale - an old way of creating bubbles that leaves a little natural sweetness in the wine. Do try Demi-Sec or Doux Champagne rather than Brut (dry).
