Thanks for your feedback – we are sorry to hear you are not happy with the finished product. I will deal with your points one by one. 1) Yes this product does require a good level of DIY skill because, as you say, it involves cutting mitres. We do offer a mitre block which we’ve now added to this product page as a related item, although for the best finish we would recommend a mitre saw. We also offer an ‘assembled’ option which means we make the screen and send it ready to fit. This can be added when purchasing the product. 2) Door handles – this is one of the most common problems because windows and doors in the UK are not designed to have screens fitted (as they are in the US for example). With most doors, the door handle will protrude beyond the door frame - this is not a problem when the doors are open because they are out of the way of the screens, but when the doors are shut the handles push against the mesh of the door screen and in some cases the screens cannot be closed. The options are to a) leave the screens partly open when the doors are closed b) lift the screens off – this product is supplied with lift off hinges c) create a sub frame to distance the screens from the door handles, we can supply UPVc frame for this. We also offer a roller screen for doors which solves this problem. With this system the screen rolls back into a cassette when not in use, which means it is out of the way of the door handles. Unfortunately we do not recommend roller screens as pet screens, so this would not have been an option in your case. 3) The nature of this type of screen means there will be some bowing of the frame because the mesh is held under tension. The key is not to over tension - we will review our instructions to emphasise this point. I have offered to send new mesh to you to enable you to re-mesh with less tension and reduce the bow. I’ve also discussed the option of offsetting the pile seal so it overlaps rather than butting up. 4) Black mesh – this is one of the most common questions. We use a dark mesh because it gives the best visibility against daylight. All modern high visibility mesh products are either charcoal or black. White mesh has the same effect as a net curtain i.e. it is highly visible to the eye which means it is more rather than less obvious than a darker mesh. White mesh also gets dirty very quickly. Thanks for your feedback, it's much appreciated. As discussed the poor service rating relates to your initial email enquiries prior to placing an order. We received your initial enquiry and follow-up on the 14th May, but were unable to respond prior to you placing your order the next day. We called you to discuss your enquiry after your order was placed, which left you with the impression that perhaps we were more interested in responding once you had ordered (i.e. once you had become a paying customer)than when you were making an enquiry. I just want to assure you that this is not the case, the phone call did relate to the enquiry rather than the fact you had ordered. Unfortunately we were somewhat overwhelmed with enquiries at that time and had not had a chance to respond. As a general note, we do respond to all enquiries even though it may take a little longer than we (and the customer) would sometimes like. We are continually reviewing this process and putting in place methods and resource to improve response times. Thanks again.
